If you are like most of the country right now, you probably would just rather stick your head in the sand and hope that when you come up for air, the economy will have fixed itself. But we all know that just isn’t going to happen. We are all worried and scared and frustrated. So what we need is a light bulb moment.

Let’s flip the switch and turn on the light and see what we can see. If you are saying to yourself that you don’t have time to start anything more in your life, then I am going to tell you that you had better find the time. Do you find time to play golf, or watch TV or go shopping or gardening? We always find time to do the things we want to do, so we also need to find time to do the things we need to do. You should not sit back and hope things change. You better make things happen for yourself now, not when it is too late.

If you are an insurance agent, you understand what residual income is all about. You sell a policy and get paid a commission on it. Next year when that client renews, you get paid again and again. Residual Income is getting paid over and over and over for work that you do one time.

The same holds true for a Network Marketing business or MLM or Relationship Marketing. You start a home business and get paid up front money and then get paid residual income over and over and over again for the work you did one time.

If I haven’t said this before, and I have, I would never give up my life of freedom. I would hate to ever have a JOB and I will hopefully never be in debt again. All thanks to having had a home business that has brought be residual income for years.

Find something you love and a company that handles that product. For me, I found a company I loved because of who the owner is and what his reputation is, but I was not all that excited about the products because they were nutritional products. It was not until after I enrolled that I found out the these particular products had only been invented 2 years earlier and that were revolutionary. Then they added the healthy Soy Candle line and I really fell in love with that product. My point is that I knew the history of the people starting this company and I was absolutely sure of the outcome because our president had made millions in our prior company. I wanted to be apart of whatever he was involved in.

You may not have the opportunity to know the people of the company you might be looking at, but love the product. You may know nothing about either but know you want to have a home business that produces residual income. I personally did not want to be in a company that had thousands of reps and there would be 100 in my city competing with me. So for me it wouldn’t be Avon or Mary Kay or Herbal Life, etc. I wanted to have something different to offer people and of course build a business with people who also wanted to be pioneers, of sort, in bringing something new and exciting to folks.

I haven’t even mentioned the Tax benefits and that if for another day. But the bottom line is……Go find yourself a Home Business and build yourself a huge residual income.

Don’t get me wrong, I still use credit cards. I love those flying points. I fly free most of the time. I use my credit cards for everything from a pack of gum to a TV. I just bought a 300C Chrysler this year and almost put that on my credit card, but the Car Dealer would have charged me a fee to do it so I paid cash instead.

I have huge limits on my cards because I pay them off at the end of each month. I pay no interest so I really don’t care what their interest rate is, but I don’t get cards with an annual fee. The banks make enough money on what they charge the merchants, they don’t need me paying them annually for the privilege to use their card.

As I work my home business (a network marketing business) I teach people how to use the extra money they make with a home business to do what I did. Of course it takes time depending on how in debt you are, but it is possible to be debt free and pay cash for everything by starting with and extra $100 per month.

Did you know that if you owe just $2500 on a credit card and pay only the minimum payments, it will take you 25 years to pay it off??? Most people owe much more than that so they will never pay it off.

Number one, get a home business going. Your account will tell you that every home in America should have one. You are giving money to the government if you don’t. You are afforded the same tax write offs that big corporation get. I get to that in another blog another day.

So let’s look at what is really happening with your credit cards.  I was shocked at this.

But the reality is that in “their day” they did not need to have 2 or 3 incomes coming in just to “get by”.  Our family unit has become very dysfunctional because children are raising themselves or being raised by strangers.   The bottom line is that we need multiple income streams coming into our finances to have a secure future. People are insecure about their future now, but have always been in a dilema about how to have more income streams coming in.

How do you get a backup system going?  You need to be diverse.  You need extra income.

There are 2 kinds of Extra Income:  Residual and Linear: Linear is income earned hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. There is no more future commitment attached to it from your end or the receiver’s end.  Residual income is where you make money by working hard ONCE  and getting paid over and over again for that work.

A Home Based Business (network marketing, MLM) can do several things for you.  First, it allows you to be home and raise your children, go to their school events and sports events, etc.  Next it offers you Residual Income, Tax benefits and a way to become filthy rich if that is what you want to do.  J.Paul Getty said “Would you rather have 100% of one person’s efforts or 1% of 100 people’s efforts.  Of course you want 1% of a 100 people.  That is what you can do if you Work From Home with a good networking company.

How much debt could you pay off is you did not have to pay child care, clothes for you job, gasoline, housekeeping services, dry cleaning and all the other things that are required when you work in a traditional job.  More on How to Get out of debt in my next post.

I have had a home business for many years and I have seen people come and go in this business, but I cannot think of anything that could truly help people more in this bad economy that to have a home business.  Sure there is an investment, but it is usually between $50 and $500.  Compare that to starting a traditional store front business and it is just pennies. Not to mention that you’d be crazy to start a new store front at the point in time.

What does a home business offer you?

• Extra income
• Tax benefits
• A way to build back your pension or retirement

Sure, it can do all that.  So why isn’t everybody jumping in with all 4 feet?   Well at least with both feet.  Is the “stigma” of MLM or Network Marketing?  Is it that people are already worked to death with their job?  Is it time?  Is it the investment?  Is it because a home business requires work to be successful?  Is it because it is easier to accept defeat than to triumph over success.It is probably a little of all of that.

People have lost the ability to dream.

They think the American Dream is dead.  Well tell that to the Warren Buffet’s, the Kenny Trout’s, the Phil Mims, the millions of folks to have made millions in a network marketing business.  The economy is not affecting them at all.  They are all just regular people who followed their dreams and wouldn’t quit, wouldn’t make excuses, just hung in there until their dreams came true.  They all started the exact same way as everyone else who enrolls in a MLM company. Every person who starts a home business, puts up an investment and starts working their busieness.  There a millionaires who got in at the “top”, and there are people who got in years after the company started.  They became millionaires in good economies and bad, new companies and old companies.  You find them in every MLM company out there.  The reason they became hugely successful is that they didn’t let anything stand in the way.  They set aside their hobbies (golf, music, volunteering) the made time for the dream and their dreams came true.

We can make excuses or money, not both.

A home business is a terrific way to make extra income or better.  The tax benefits alone are tremendous.  People will find “time” to do whatever it is that is important to them.  In this economy, we better realize that we are going to have to make some sacrifices if we are going to survive.  People have lost their retirement, their jobs, their homes.  Find a home business that has products that people will still buy.  They probably are not buying high dollor cosmetics or water softners.  Health products will stay on an even keel, especially since people have lost their medical insurance and can’t afford to get sick.  Look at the trends and find a trend that is staying alive and better yet growing in momenteum then jump aboard and make it happen for yourself.

Then a few weeks later reality stuck.  Now the pressure hits. What is it going to take to make this business go?  You find that it takes concerted effort, dedicated time, and tremendous commitment to see the job through. Some of the side effects of having your own business, is that the buck starts and stops with you, so when things don’t go as fast as you hoped, you start questioning whether this was a good idea or not.  You worry about “failing” and what you friends and family will say.  Especially if this is not your rodeo.  The more worried and scared you get, the more excuses you come up with until………you quit!  You vow never to do it again, you tell yourself network marketing doesn’t work or your location was wrong, etc. etc. ,but you know in your heart that your dreams will never come true if you work for someone else, getting paid  what “they” think you are worth.  You dislike everything about a job, from been under someone elses’ control,

to being mad at yourself for settling for less that you deserve.

Success will come when you decide that you will not let anything stop you from your dreams. You will go into your business with the knowledge that it will take a year or two to really start seeing the results of your dedication.  A traditional business takes an average of 2 years before you see a profit.  Network Marketing, MLM, can be done much sooner because there is little overhead.

The benefit of a network marketing business is that you can built that business while you stay employed at a job until the home business income exceeds your job.  Then you can decide whether you want to stay in that job of become a full time home business owner.

IF YOU PAY THE PRICE. ….SUCCESS WILL COME.  NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE, MOST ESPECIALLY FREEDOM.

Again, it goes back to what you are willing to do to be wealthy. It means hard work. It means sacrificing golf, or TV or fishing or hobbies. It mean devoting every smidgeon of time you can find to “make it happen” for you. Fact is most people say they want to be wealthy, but just won’t pay the price.

You are either going to be marketing a product or a service if you have a home business. There are many ways to market. There is warm market, cold market, internet market, lead market just to name a few. Most people that are successful, find the niche that works best for them. But it may take time to find that niche by trying the different forms of marketing. That’s where we lose most people. They try one or two ideas and if that doesn’t make them rich quick, they quit.

I prefer working cold market than warm market. Warm market are people you know, cold market are people you never met. For me, it is very easy to talk to a stranger about my products rather than my family or friends. Much less criticism. Others like the warm market and referrals. So the secret is to keep trying many methods of reaching out until you find the one that “fits you” You sponsor or upline or mentor may like something completely different. So just because it works for them, doesn’t mean it will work for you. You need to find what works best for you.

The good news is that most home businesses have very little start up cost. The bad news is that because you may not have a lot invested, it may be easy for you to throw in the towel when the road gets bumpy. It is Your Business, Stay with it and you will find success. You A Millionair In the Making if you want to be.

It is not that a home business, or MLM or Network Marketing doesn’t work. It is that they didn’t have a plan, they didn’t make a commitment and many times they didn’t have someone helping them get their business started. Sometimes people just don’t know where to start so they come up with many excuses to quit……I don’t have enough time, My kids keep me too busy, my hours at work conflict, I can’t talk to people, I don’t know anyone, etc. etc. Excuses!

Having said that, there are 1000’s of people who made the decision to start a home business, had no training, no one to guide them, nothing but desire and commitment and they made it BIG. In Networking it is called “Ignorance on Fire”. They just made it happen! So what is the difference between the one that make it and the ones that don’t……EXCUSES!

If you want to make money, big little money, you have to get the job done.  Get a mentor to help you. Be coachable, visualize success, never let doubt enter you mind.  Put pictures of your dreams on your refrigerator, or bathroom mirror.  Look at them everyday.  When doubt creeps in, you look at those pictures and tell yourself, that you deserve to have your dreams and you WILL do what it take.  No More EXCUSES

Take me for example, I wear many hats. I am a mediator or the county, a volunteer for the police department’s Victim Services Team, I am in the Ladies Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, have 11 grandchildren and love every single part of all that and do not want to take off any of my hats. So time is very important and a JOB just doesn’t work for me. Thus Home Business.

A Home Business can make you wealthy or poor. By poor, I mean, you never make any money and spend more than you make. The key is DISCIPLINE. You must treat a home business like a business and not a hobby.Most Home Businesses are styled using the Network Marketing model. Network Marketing offers a faster road to wealth for those willing to make sacrifices in order to truly work the business.

Most people have a job and start a home business to make extra money. That is really the best way to do it because you have no financial pressure……but you have to set goals, decide on what action you will have to take to reach those goals, and then follow through. Life can get in the way easily so you must be diligent about setting the number of hours you WILL WORK YOUR BUSINESS. It is Ok if you only have 4 hours a week, but be sure you w Remember you can make money or excuses, not both.
